See the information below for an opportunity to participate in Course 1 of the Reading 360 TN Training for Secondary Literacy being offered this summer!
Upon completion of Course One, participants will have a strong understanding of the cognitive science and reading research that supports an evidence-based approach to literacy instruction, what strong instruction consists of, and the alignment between the research and the TN Academic Standards for Literacy. In each session, participants will explore the relevant research supporting a particular topic, define strong instruction in that topic (as codified in the TN Instructional Practice Guide), identify its progression in the TN Academic Standards for Literacy, and analyze a video or materials model through the lens of research, best practice, and the standards. Throughout each session, participants will have opportunities to reflect on their learning and make connections between the focus topic and comprehensive models of reading development. Course One content will establish a strong foundation for an exploration of best instructional practices and the role of high-quality instructional materials.Participants can enroll in Course 1 via this link Secondary Literacy Training | Tennessee Online Academic Tool (tnedu.gov)
